The Season is a dating season in San Francisco, made by the team behind Orbiit. This note explains what we collect when you apply, why, and what you can ask us to do with it. The short version: we use your answers only to decide on your place and plan your dates, we never sell them, and your employer never sees them.

What we collect

Some answers are sensitive, such as your background, religion, politics and who you'd like to meet. Those questions are optional unless they decide who you can be paired with, and you can skip any optional question.

How we use it

We don't sell or share your information for advertising, we don't use advertising cookies, and we don't build profiles of you for anyone else. The application saves your progress in your own browser (local storage) so you don't lose answers; that copy never leaves your device until you send it.

Your employer

If your employer offers The Season, they only ever see how many places were used. They never see who applied, who got in, or how anyone answered.

Who sees it, and where it's kept

Only the founders and the people running your season. Your application is stored with our database provider, Supabase, on servers in Zurich, Switzerland, and travels there encrypted. Our website is hosted by Vercel.

How long we keep it

Until the end of the season you applied for and 12 months after, so we can invite you to a later season, unless you ask us to delete it sooner. Spam-protection records are deleted after a few days.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it, or delete it, and you can withdraw your application at any time. California residents have these rights under the CCPA, including the right to limit how sensitive information is used; we only use it for the purposes above. We won't treat you differently for using any of these rights.

To do any of this, email contact@theseason.world from the address you applied with.

Age

The Season is only for people 21 and older. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone younger.

Changes

If we change how we use your information, we'll update this page and change the date at the top. For big changes we'll email you first.
